Don’t Get Bugged by the Flu!

Here are some common sense flu avoidance tips from Sharp Health Plan’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Nora Faine:

• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
• Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
• Keep frequently touched surfaces clean. Consider using a disinfectant, or avoid sharing space or equipment at work altogether.
• Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Attention to rest, diet, exercise, and relaxation will make a difference in your physical and emotional health.

The holidays are just around the corner. Follow these precautions and stay flu-free this season!
