Inside Health Care – Recap

On April 16, 2010, Sharp Health Plan hosted a very successful event on the topic of health care reform and what it will mean for brokers, employers and the larger San Diego community. The event was the first in a series that the health plan is calling “Inside Health Care” – a conversation about local, regional and national health care issues.

The 125 attendees heard from Mike Murphy, President and CEO of Sharp HealthCare, who reviewed the major components of the reform law and its likely impact on health care delivery. A panel discussion followed, including Mike and three other Sharp HealthCare insiders: Melissa Cook, President and CEO, Sharp Health Plan; Dr. John Jenrette, CEO and Chief Medical Officer, Sharp Community Medical Group; and Dr. Jerry Penso, Associate Medical Director of Quality Programs, Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group. As an integrated delivery system, health plan and largest private employer in San Diego, Sharp brings a unique perspective to this conversation.

Sharp Health Plan is committed to taking a leadership role in the coming months and years to facilitate discussion, understanding and implementation of the changes that lie ahead.
